This new 6 part documentary series will tell the stories that have gripped imaginations for centuries and reveal the fascinating and unexpected history behind them.

Episode 1 – Heroes & Villain

The episode reveals the strange Slavic story of Ivan and Koschei the Deathless, the origins of King Arthur and the wizard Merlin, the journey of Odysseus as he resists the beautiful songs of the Sirens, and finally to Sigurd and his battle with the dragon Fafnir.

Episode 2 – The Wild Unknown

Threaded through this episode is the tragic Greek myth of Actaeon, who stumbled upon the goddess Artemis, the Celtic Otherworld, an idyllic place of magic and beauty, and on the trail of the scariest monster of the deep: the Kraken. Finally we venture into the woods of Brothers Grimm, revealing the dark and disturbing roots of the famous stories.

Episode 3 – War

We delve into the violent story of Romulus and Remus, to the brutal Vikings and the Valkyries who ushered them into next world. The Trojan War, exploring the influence of Homer's Iliad on Alexander the Great, and to 15th Century Romania, the bloodthirsty ruler, Vlad the Impaler – the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s legendary Count Dracula.

Episode 4, 5 & 6 will explore the mytholgical worlds of love, betrayal, death and the underworld.
