John Huston (1906-1987) is the director of such classics as The Maltese Falcon, The African Queen & The Misfits. Less well known are his documentaries shot during World War II as part of the US government’s propaganda campaign. Brutally realistic in their portrayal of the war, The Battle of San Pietro was subsequently lost and Let There Be Light was banned for thirty-five years. War Stories, a close collaboration with filmmaker Midge Mackenzie, contains footage of these films, as well as interviews with Huston shortly before he died.
